Shelley initially started training with Thrive Optimal Human Performance to tone up, lose weight. She was interested in running more but couldn’t run lamp post to lamp post without getting cramp in the legs.
The solution with Shelley was to put her on a blend of our semi-private and private training. The Semi-Private Training put her in a small group of 4 similar members and then she started at our beginner resistance training level to be progressed month by month.
The private training was used to tackle the more specific cardiovascular workouts for running and cycling given the specific events she was training for.
Shelley’s progress in training was tracked using the Myzone heart rate tracking system to ensure to correct intensity and recovery were achieved in her training to allow the best performance during an event.
A habit-based nutrition system was used alongside Shelley’s training to ensure she had the energy for her training and any upcoming events as well as having a family and working full time in a demanding job.

- 5 Marathons; London, Berlin, New York, Chicago and Boston
- Over 20 Duathlons & Triathlons competing as a Great Britain Age Group Athlete
- Joined a cycling group and completed numerous cycling challenges including riding to the summit of Mount Ventoux, a Tour de France climb at over 1,900m.”

I started 2 stone overweight wanting to be able to run with my daughter. I couldn’t even run a mile.
My first goal was to complete a 5k run for life which I achieved in just 3 months. From then I set out to complete a half marathon which I completed 12 months later and I’m now even lighter.
My next goal was to complete the 5 masters marathons New York, Chicago , London , Berlin and Boston , the final one I completed in April 2011. I have also completed a 100 mile bike ride, a duathlon and triathlon.”
