I am Noemi, I am 36.
Before I started training with Thrive Optimal Human Performance, I had done basically nothing physical since PE at school.
I’ve never lifted a weight before and I definitely couldn’t run around the block or anything like that. I also didn’t have a clue what I was doing in regards to my eating and lifestyle choices.
With the job I do I sit down for most of the day.
When I contacted the guys I knew I had to spring back into action and I told myself I was going to do it for 12 weeks, and here I am a year later.
It feels brilliant once you’ve done the session and you just want to keep on having that feeling. You realise really quickly when you start training if you only did a month you are literally just scratching the surface of what you can do with your body.
After that first moment, I saw progressions, such as simple movements that we did turn into a push-up or something and I just wanted to see how much further I could go.
From starting on my knees I’m now doing a full push-up.
It is the best and worst part of my day I would say once it’s over it feels amazing. In the middle of it, you’re like “oh my goodness” but it’s just it’s life-changing really in so many ways.
For me, it’s changed every aspect of my life. I can run now I can do a couple of miles. Things that I thought I could never do.
I eat completely differently and I timetable my life completely differently so it means everything to me. Now I see fitness as being more than just getting in the gym it’s a whole process of what I eat and how I live my life.
In the beginning, like I said I was only going to do it for 12 weeks I wasn’t going to continue doing it after that, but now it’s part of my life and something that is important to me and as much of a routine as cleaning your teeth.
It’s not just about being able to lift a weight, which I can do now it’s about knowing how to fuel myself so that I can lift that weight, it’s about making those healthy choices.
I was super anxious about training before is started it and I remember the night before our first session I didn’t sleep. I was absolutely terrified about it.
Now I look back and I wonder what I was so worried about because it’s so natural to just turn up and do our sessions.
So, I would say even if you do have that anxiety you can be a bit nervous about what it’s going to entail or about showing up at the gym just do it because you’re going love it.
No one hated exercise more than me and I love it so you’re going to love. Get out your head and just go for it.
They are consummate professionals. You’re going be in the best hands and you’re going to be looked after. I would just go for it don’t think too much about it, the thinking comes later.
I was really scared of the gym, really intimidated by going into a gym, I didn’t have a clue how to do a workout for myself I didn’t know how to work the machines.
I remember I tried to get a step and I couldn’t put the feet on the step and like after about 20 minutes I just gave up!
Thrive Optimal Human Performance has taught me how to do my own gym session so I go in there and I just feel like a completely different person in the gym.
I can load my own weights onto the bars, I can use all the machines and that’s been life-changing for me in that it has empowered me to be able to go in and do my own session.
