Happy New Year
We hope you have all had a great Christmas and New Year, and we are looking forward to getting started on your 2020 goals.
We would like a few different people for their support in making Thrive: Optimal Human Performance a success in its first year. Firstly the clients and members that have trained with Jack and me for anywhere from 14 years to 4 months that supported us through the transition from Personal Training in local gyms to getting Thrive open and ready for training and to everyone who has joined us throughout 2019.
We appreciate your patience and feedback throughout the process of creating the type of training environment that we can all now enjoy.
To our new members and trial members, thank-you for putting your faith in us in working towards your health and fitness goals. We will do everything we can to provide the best support system for your training.
In this newsletter, we will introduce you to the additions to the Thrive Community that promise to make 2020 even better than 2019.
We have more events, more challenges, more services and offerings to help make your training experience a pleasure rather than a chore.
Most importantly we have a new Trainer, Mike to introduce to you who will have schedule availability from February.
The coaching experience is one of our core values, so we are thrilled to get Mike on board who shares our training philosophy and passion for coaching people.
Here is to a fantastic 2020 at Thrive: Optimal Human Performance.
What goals or challenges do you have planned in 2020?
Here is our list of community and physical events lined up for the First Quarter of 2020.
January Friday 31st
Pat Baynes will be leaving us in February to join the Royal Navy. So Final Friday drinks is dedicated to Pat’s leaving Party.
The Myzone Charity Challenge
This time, for the Myzone Challenge individuals, can set their individual targets for expected MEPS for the month with penalties of charity contributions if targets are missed! Get your belts charged and ready for Feb!
Targets will be 2500, 4500 or 6000+ for those who wish to take up residence at Thrive for February.
You will still be put into a team and your individual targets will make up the Team Target as a whole.
Also in February we will be going out for Adventure Golf and bowling for a change to sweaty physical activity. This one is pure, food, drinks, and fun. (your version of fun, not ours).
March will be the month for our first outdoor walk of the year. Last year we covered Scafell and Snowdon. With Ben Nevis planned for later in the year, March will serve as a warm-up walk for the big one.
We will also be doing a Tour de France Challenge in March covering 2000 miles of cycling over 3 weeks as a club.
We will need 90 miles completing as a team on a bike every day for 3 weeks, so have your padded shorts and fresh legs at the ready in March.
Well Done to…
The results of the November MEPS competition were as follows…
Team Mike: 32,866
Team Patrick: 31,846
Team Jack: 29,367.
Fantastic effort by all!
Clearly putting a leaderboard in the gym and the spark of a little challenge really helped a lot of you guys move more
Well done to the people who have managed to get into the gym 2x per week or more in December. We all know how difficult it can get in December to stay consistent, and you guys have done a great job!
If you managed to get in for 8 training sessions in December you are ahead of the majority of the British population for health and fitness. Congratulations on making it a priority.
At Thrive we believe in consistency over all else.
Below are the top 20 going into 2020.
The list is the highest number of visits to the gym through all of 2019.
Congrats to the Lord & Lady of consistency last year.
Emma Smith & Goose.
For most of you, Mike doesn’t need an introduction. In February we will officially be introducing Mike to the Thrive booking system.
Mike will be in on Tuesday evening, Thursday Evening and Saturdays, starting Feb 1st.
Mike will be a great addition to our coaching team.
We have upcoming Nutrition and Motivation Workshops.
Wednesday, January 15th, 7-8 pm is the Nutrition Workshop
Wednesday, January 29th, 7-9 pm is our first Motivation Workshop in which we will take and explain Inbody scores, assess last year’s training and nutrition progress and set goals for the upcoming year.
We also have monthly group review sessions planned from Tuesday, Feb 25th so that anyone wanting a monthly review can book in at 6 pm before the 7 pm Fusion Class and get a full Inbody measure and progress review.
Remember we have test days coming up in the last week of March plus the upcoming events.
So everyone will have something to work towards.
A thank you (I think)…
For those of you who haven’t heard, John our member since January of 2019 has decided to “pay us back” for a year of help with his health and fitness by getting myself and Jack a horse riding lesson! John explained that he would like to push us out of our comfort zone as we have pushed him out of his. Before January 2019, John had not ever stepped foot in a gym.
See you all soon
We look forward to seeing you all in the gym soon,
Jack & Patrick
